They Might Be Giants / Join Us

After a lengthy and successful diversion into TV theme tunes and kiddies music (hey, they won a couple of Grammys!), dork- rock veterans They Might Be Giants have returned to their roots on Join Us. For three decades TMBG’s unique blend of catchy melodies, humorous lyrics and pastiche has spawned many an imitator – think Weezer, Flight Of The Conchords – and left thousands of fans with a smirk on their face. And while Join Us has no smash ala 1990’s ‘Birdhouse In Your Soul’ it’s a load of fun. Tracks sure to raise a grin include the impossibly cheerful ‘When Will You Die’ and ‘Protagonist’, the tale of an air-guitar stealing ex-lover.

The band asked fans to create a video for first single off the album “Can’t Keep Johnny Down” and this was the winning entry — if you can believe what you read on the web that is . . .
